Since June 2016 Gerry has been a Big Brother to Xavier – at the time an 9 year old boy from North Seattle. Gerry was matched with Xavier through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound. Every weekend Gerry & Xavier spend several hours together exploring Seattle and learning more about each other.
Activities may include riding bikes along the Burke Gilman Trail, visiting the Pacific Science Center, or taking an outdoor stroll along the beach at Alki or flying kites at Golden Gardens. But above all, Gerry enjoys mentoring Xavier by being a consistent role model in his life.
While Gerry loves being in the limelight with folks, he still needs his downtime to rest and recharge from the hectic life that is that of a Realtor. Whether its listening to music at home, or going to see a play, musical or a movie with friends, getting that downtime allows Gerry to recharge so he can give all his energy when needed to his clients, or his Little Brother Xavier.
Gerry might not be into pottery, knitting, or painting, but his hobbies are more in line with his fitness goals. Getting back to rowing Crew in the fall of 2017 has allowed Gerry to re-engage with a sport he became passionate about back in his college days. The sense of community that a rowing club offers, the physical fitness aspects of it, and the joy of competition all provide Gerry with a great sense of dedication, commitment, and comradery.
Presently, Gerry is rowing with the Mt. Baker Rowing & Sailing Center’s Masters Rowing Team in South Seattle along the shores of Lake Washington. During the nicer weather months, you will find Gerry on his road bike plying the bicycle trails around the greater Seattle/Puget Sound region.
